November 8, 2012–The whole community turned out to dedicate Enewa Elementary School on Ailinglaplap atoll, one of two new U.S.-funded schools on the island. Ambassador Armbruster joined Minister of Education Hilda Heine in dedicating the school that will provide island children with the skills they need to succeed. The U.S. is also working on providing laptops and coordinating with other donors like the Asian Development Bank to strengthen primary school education through the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Education is one of the pillars of U.S. engagement, along with health and infrastructure improvement. Ailinglaplap is famous in the Marshall Islands as a place of legends and stories involving the creation of the island chain.
