The CDC Project Officer for the Marshall Island’s National Immunization Program, Mimi Larzelere, and the Guam-based Public Health Advisor assigned to the Marshall Islands, Mary Huynh, have been meeting with Immunization program officials this week to provide technical assistance to program staff. The National Immunization Program receives $1 million dollars in US funding to implement its program, which provides vaccinations for children from birth to 18 years of age, influenza vaccine, and some limited adult vaccines. The program receives additional funding through the Preventing and Public Health Fund, part of the US President’s Affordable Care Act, to pilot a study on continuous temperature monitoring for vaccine storage. This information will assist the CDC in providing better recommendations for USAPI jurisdictions on vaccine storage and handling.
