Consular Service announcement – October 11, 2021

Please be advised that Consular operations at the U.S. Embassy in Majuro are temporarily suspended indefinitely.

For U.S. citizens who urgently need to return to the United States and have an expired passport, please be aware that the United States is honoring U.S. passports that have expired on or after January 1, 2020 for direct and immediate return to the United States.  This policy remains in effect until December 31, 2021.  Those who have lost their passports or have passports that expired prior to January 1, 2020 and have an urgent need to return to the United States, please provide us with your biographic details (full legal name, date and place of birth), along with your proposed itinerary.  We will provide further instructions once this information is received.

For non-U.S. citizens with urgent travel needs who lack a required a U.S. visa, please provide us with a copy of your passport bio page, along with your itinerary and the circumstances regarding your urgent need for travel.  We will provide further instructions once this information is received.

All other consular services, including notarial services are suspended indefinitely.
