Embassy Hosts Global Entrepreneurship Week Events

As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week initiative held around the world with support from the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Embassy and the College of the Marshall Islands hosted an entrepreneurship panel on November 13 at the College of the Marshall Islands.  The panel featured local business representatives who discussed the challenges and rewards of owning and operating private businesses in the Marshall Islands.  Panelists also answered questions from the audience concerning potential business opportunities in the RMI.  At the conclusion of the event, Ambassador Armbruster presented an Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Lucia Guavis, a local businesswoman who has developed a thriving local and export handicraft business.  Approximately 140 students and other interested community members were in attendance, and the discussion was also broadcast live throughout the country.  The event was the lead story in the weekly Marshall Islands Journalon November 15.
