The U.S. Embassy in Majuro hosted an interactive “Election Open House” November 7 to view the 2012 Election results and discuss American politics. Guests included Marshall Islands government officials, Majuro high school students, and local American citizens. Andrew Zvirzdin, the Embassy’s Political Officer, served as MC, leading several activities with the Embassy guests, including a mock vote, a competition to guess the number of electoral votes the winning candidate will earn, and a trivia quiz, all leading to the grand prize: an American flag cake. Several Americans, including Ambassador Armbruster, discussed their home states and quizzed the audience on trivia related to their states. Guests also kept a close-eye on the several TV monitors, viewing updates on election results and rooting for their candidates.
