Don’t worry—aliens have not landed! On February 14, Embassy first-responders participated in an all-day weapons of mass destruction (WMD) training, culminating with a simulated “emergency situation” wherein the Embassy was the site of a WMD attack. During this enactment, Embassy first responders donned their full first-responder outfits to treat the “victims” of the attack…attracting the attention of local bystanders who came over to watch the performance.
This simulation was the conclusion of a two-day WMD awareness training conducted at Embassy Majuro by two visiting members of the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS). On the previous day, the DS trainers met with members of the Embassy’s mail screening team and gave an Embassy-wide presentation regarding WMD awareness and actions to take in the case of an attack.
