Charge d’affaires Lance Posey the Foreign Service in 2009 and served in the consular sections in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bridgetown, Barbados followed by four years in Washington D.C. where he worked on issues related to parental child abductions and as the Haiti program officer for police capacity building.  He also served as a procurement and contracting officer in Nairobi, Kenya, and his most recent posting was as the Consular Section Chief and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Lance is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee and received his undergraduate degree from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia and his master’s degree from Georgia College.  Prior to joining the U.S. Department of State, he was a high school science teacher and assistant principal in the United States and at international schools in Turkey, Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom.  Lance is married and has two children.
