Demand for the Flying Doctors of America has been tremendous, and the doctors, surgeons, dentists, and mental health care professionals have provided hundreds of surgeries, medical exams, and services on remote outer islands and in Majuro. Ambassador Armbruster traveled with the team to Arno Atoll, and helped hand out over 190 pairs of prescription eyeglasses to community members. Battling rough seas, the team was nonetheless able to assist hundreds of local residents with medical and dental care. Flying Doctors of America is currently in discussion with the RMI government to establish a longer-term presence wherein several doctors serve for up to three months in the Majuro hospital.
During this visit to the Marshall Islands, the Flying Doctors of America treated well over a thousand patients on Majuro, Kwajalein (Ebeye), Wotho, Ujae, Jaluit, Wotje, and Arno atolls.
