RMI Celebrates Manit Day (Culture Day) 2012

On September 28, 2012 the people of the Republic of the Marshall Islands celebrated the Manit Day.  Manit Day is an annual holiday that commemorates Marshallese traditions and culture.  Activities include singing performances, sports games, weaving competitions, and traditional canoe races.  There are also food booths set up showcasing Marshallese and international cuisine.  This year, the U.S. Embassy was proud to participate in Manit day by providing a taste of traditional American food in the form of chili dogs.   Ambassador Armbruster and other embassy staff served up free chili dogs to hundreds of Marshallese children – and even a few adults.  It was a huge success and a fun day for everyone.
