RMI Celebrates World Oceans Day

The Marshall Islands celebrated World Oceans day on Saturday June 8th with a cleanup effort that focused on Uliga Village, Majuro.   RMI local youth group JOJIKUM and participants were out bright and early to help clean up the beaches and lagoon. Ambassador Armbruster and Embassy staff member Yetta Aliven helped clean out the lagoon by joining a group in picking up trash along the Uliga shoreline as well as snorkeling for trash. With such limited land space, and a highly dense population, trash can be a huge problem in places like Majuro.  National cleanups help keep the lagoon and beaches in pristine condition, and make sure both people and marine life have a clean, beautiful environment to thrive.
