On June 12, Embassy Majuro Military Liaison Officer Tom Mau presented an official U.S. Coast Guard Academy Certificate of Appointment to James Francis “Vinny” Myazoe II. Also present at the brief ceremony were RMI President Christopher Loeak , several Cabinet Ministers, and U.S. Ambassador Armbruster, who joined in congratulating Vinny on his appointment to the academy. Having just graduated as valedictorian of his class at Xavier High School in Chuuk, Vinny will depart the RMI in the next few weeks to begin his studies at the USCG academy.
Vinny is the second Marshallese student to earn entrance into the 4-year academy, following Jefferson Bobo, who graduated from the academy in 2011. Like Jefferson, Vinny plans to return to the RMI after his studies to utilize the skills and knowledge he gains at the academy toward working for a better future for the RMI.
