Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton attended the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Post Forum Dialogue in Raratonga, Cook Islands on August 31st, where she met with Pacific Island leaders, including RMI President Loeak. Secretary Clinton’s attendance at the PIF was the first ever by a U.S. Secretary of State, and her participation highlights the United States’ commitment to partnering with the Pacific Island countries to address local and global challenges, such as climate change, economic development, gender equality, education, and peace and security. Secretary Clinton had a chance to discuss these issues, and others, with President Loeak during a breakfast meeting set along the beautiful coastline in Raratonga.
