Twelve New RMI Recruits Join the U.S. Army

Ambassador Armbruster joined U.S. Army Captain Quinlan to welcome twelve new Marshallese recruits into the U.S. Army on September 11, 2012.  The new recruits were sworn into the U.S. military at a small ceremony at the RRE Hotel in Majuro attended by friends, family and Marshallese veterans of U.S. Armed Forces.  The induction ceremony occurred on the same day as the commemoration of the attacks of September 11, 2001, and Ambassador Armbruster noted that Marshallese volunteers have played an important role in U.S. military efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere around the world.  This year’s recruits come from both Majuro and Kwajalein atolls, and they join hundreds of their fellow Marshallese citizens serving honorably in the U.S. military.
