U.S. Embassy at the Majuro Career Fair 2013

Friday the 13th, career day at the ICC for high school seniors as well as Majuro’s two colleges will hopefully bring some good luck to the students who attended.  The U.S. Embassy was represented by Ambassador Armbruster and Pol/Econ Officer Jeff Shelden.  The embassy team answered questions about our sponsorship of the event, the life of a diplomat and how to pursue such a career for the RMI.  But the embassy staff also made an effort explain the scholarship programs the embassy can assist qualified applicants with—the U.S. Coast Guard, or the merchant marine academies, for example, or the Department of Energy scholarship that will be given every year to a qualified Marshallese student pursuing a science or engineering career—a scholarship that is unique to the Republic of the Marshall Islands.   The Embassy can be contacted anytime for information on these programs and others.  The post cards of President Obama and the pens the Embassy handed out were gone early in the event!
