World Water Day 2014

The Marshall Islands and Embassy Majuro marked World Water Day this Saturday on March 22.  With the 2013 drought still very much in everyone’s mind no one needs to tell the RMI how important, and precious, water is.  This Saturday there was a walk from the College of the Marshall Islands to Delap Park.  Later that morning there were demonstrations of a water catchment tank, solar still, and a reverse osmosis machine – as well as face painting, musical chairs, and a raffle.  Organizations involved included the Marshall Islands Red Cross, IOM, USAID, and the RMI Government’s Office of Environmental Planning and Policy Coordination (OEPPC).  U.S. Embassy Majuro was well represented during the day with Ambassador Armbruster and several staff and their families participating.
