On June 10, 2013, Ambassador Armbruster and Information Assistant Erin Jacobs attended the opening of Youth-to-Youth-in Health’s (YTYIH) annual summer workshop for its peer educator training. YTYIH is a local NGO that employs youth educators to work with other Marshall Islands youth, addressing important issues facing Marshall Islands youth today, including substance abuse, reproductive health, and HIV.
This summer’s four week workshop—the theme of which is “Face Your Challenges”—will be an opportunity for new and existing peer educators to receive education and training that they will then use throughout the next year during various outreach activities. The last two-and-half weeks of the workshop will be dedicated to learning drama skills and creating dramatic presentations, and will be led by a Honolulu-based drama instructor, Daniel Kelin, whose participation in the workshop is being funded by a grant from the U.S. Embassy.
